Single crochet

Chain any number plus 1.
Insert your hook into the second chain from the hook.
Yarn over and pull the chain off.
Yarn over again and pull both loops off.
One single crochet stitch completed. Continue until you reach the end of the chain.
Chain one and turn.
Repeat.

Tunisian Simple Stitch

Create a tunisian foundation chain.
Insert the hook between the small pillar stitch (that's what I call them).
Yarn over and pull off the pillar.

There are now two loops left on the hook.

Continue this until you reach the last 2 pillars.
Insert the hook through both of the last pillars, as if they were one.
Yarn over and pull off one pillar. Yarn over again and pull off the other pillar.
Yarn over and pull off 2 loops. Continue until there is one loop left.
One tunisian simple stitch row completed. Repeat to make another row.

Tunisian foundation chain

Also known as the tunisian simple stitch, many say this stitch is the one of the closest to knitting. Here i'm going to show you the foundation stitch.

Chain about.... Well, for practice, we'll just do 6. You can do any number of chain stitches, but 6 are shown here.
Insert your hook in the second chain from your hook.
Wrap the yarn around once (yarn over), then pull off the stitch.

There are now two loops left on the hook.

Insert your hook into the next chain, yarn over and pull off the stitch.

There are now three loops left on the hook.

Continue this until you reach the end of the row.

There should now be 6 loops on the hook.

Yarn over and pull off 1 loop.

Yarn over and pull through 2 loops.

Continue until you only have one loop on your hook.

One Tunisian foundation chain completed.

These stitches are too tight:

These are just right:
NOTE
You want to make sure that you can fit your hook through the holes in your stitches (chains). If not. Then your stitches are too tight, and you should probably  start over with a bigger crochet hook or by wiggling your hook to loosen it up. If you feel like your stitches are too loose, you should probably pull on your working yarn (the strand connected to the ball, skein, or hank) or use a smaller crochet hook.
